MLB: St. Louis 16, Texas 7

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols blasted three homers Saturday, driving in six runs in the St. Louis Cardinals' 16-7 rout of the Texas Rangers in Game 3 of the World Series.

Pujols joined Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth as the only players to bash three long balls in a World Series game, launching a three-run homer in the sixth, a two-run bomb in the seventh and a solo shot in the ninth as St. Louis took a 2-1 lead in the Fall Classic.

Allen Craig also homered and Yadier Molina drove in four runs with two doubles and a sacrifice fly as the Cardinals banged out 15 hits in the road victory.

St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse lasted only three innings and Lance Lynn (1-0) picked up the victory after yielding one run on three hits over 2 1/3 relief innings.

Matt Harrison (0-1) was roughed up for five runs (three earned) on six hits over 3 2/3 innings for Texas.

Michael Young and Nelson Cruz homered while Adrian Beltre went 4-for-5 with an RBI for the Rangers, who will host Game 4 Sunday night.
