NHL: New York Rangers 3, Calgary 2 (OT)

CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Ryan McDonagh's goal with 2 seconds left in overtime Thursday, the first goal for either team in almost 50 minutes, helped the New York Rangers top Calgary 3-2.

A power-play goal by Mark Giordano with 4:09 left in the opening period created a 2-2 tie and that is the way it stayed until McDonagh barely beat the overtime horn by putting a wrist shot past Henrik Karlsson.

New York never trailed, getting the game's first goal from Marian Gaborik on the power play 4:53 into the contest. Jarome Iginla countered for Calgary less than a minute later.

Brandon Prust put the Rangers back in front on a shorthanded tally with 6:18 left in the first.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 32 shots for the Rangers. Karlsson made 25 saves.
