STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Gael Monfils was the only one of four seeded players on Thursday's schedule to win a match at the Stockholm Open tennis tournament in Sweden.

Monfils, seeded first in Stockholm, needed three sets to survive his second-round match but third-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka, No. 4 Juan Ignacio Chela and seventh-seeded Ivan Dodig were all eliminated.

Monfils defeated Bernard Tomic 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4. He had 18 aces and only dropped his serve once but also managed just three breaks, including two in the third set, in advancing to Friday's quarterfinals against fifth-seeded Kevin Anderson.

Jarkko Nieminen needed just 70 minutes to dispatch Wawrinka 6-3, 6-4 while Grigor Dimitrov dominated the third set in ousting Chela 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

David Nalbandian had no trouble beating Dodig, wining 6-1, 6-1. Nalbandian lost just eight points in seven service games.

Also Thursday, Tobias Kamke took out Sebastian Rieschick 6-3, 6-1.

In addition to the Monfils-Anderson match Friday, Dimitrov draws sixth-seeded Milos Raonic, Kamke meets Nieminen and Nalbandian plays James Blake in the other quarterfinals.
