
MOSCOW, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- No. 5-seeded Alex Bogomolov Jr. came from behind in claiming a first-round victory Tuesday at the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament in Moscow.
With the top four seeded players given byes, Bogomolov was the highest seed to have to play a first-round match. He suffered the only service break in the first set before rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Dusan Lajovic.
Lajovic didn't face a break point in the first set but Bogomolov ended up with four breaks in 10 break-point opportunities.
Sixth-seeded Dmitry Tursunov capped the day's men's schedule with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 decision over Albert Ramos. Tursunov lost his serve twice in the first set but grabbed the advantage in the tiebreaker.
Gilles Muller, the No. 7-seed, got past Konstantin Kravchuk also 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. He had 19 aces and won more than three-quarters of the points on serve. He saved all three of Kravchuk's break-point chances.
Also Tuesday, Michael Berrer defeated Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-2, 6-3; Philipp Kohlschreiber topped Carlos Berlocq 7-5, 6-3; and Jeremy Chardy, behind a 23-ace attack, won a third-set tiebreaker in beating Potito Starace.
