STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Kevin Anderson of South Africa had to go to a pair of tie-breakers Tuesday but managed to get past Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez at the Stockholm Open.

The 6-foot-7 Anderson outlasted Garcia-Lopez 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-4), advancing to the second round where he'll face wild card and former world No. 2 Tommy Haas of Germany.

Also among the first-round winners was former top-five American James Blake, who bested fellow non-seed Olivier Rochus of Belgium 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 at Kungliga Tennishallen.

Blake -- seeking his third Stockholm title -- goes on to face second-seeded former U.S. Open champion Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina.

No. 6 Milos Raonic of Canada pounded out 22 aces to beat 2009 Stockholm champion Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (4-7), 6-4.

Seventh-seeded Ivan Dodig of Croatia defeated France's Adrian Mannarino 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6) while German qualifier Tobias Kamke drilled No. 8 Tommy Robredo 6-2, 6-3.
