Ahn takes No. 5 place in women's golf

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Ahn Sun-ju picked up her fourth win on the women's golf tour in Japan and boosted her world ranking to No. 5.

The other women in the Top 10 were in Kuala Lumpur for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia tournament. Choi Na-Yeon won that event by one stroke over world No. 1 Yani Tseng.

Ahn, meanwhile, was posting a 2-stroke win at the Sankyo Ladies Open in Takasaki, Japan. It was her fourth championship since May on the LPGA of Japan Tour and allowed her to move from sixth to fifth in the world women's golf rankings. Jiyai Shin switches places with Ahn in the rankings.

Tseng is No. 1 for a 35th consecutive week and has a ranking point average of 17.68. The rankings are much closer in positions 2-4 where Suzann Pettersen (11.33) holds the second spot ahead of Cristie Kerr (10.94) and Choi (10.47).

Ahn has an average of 8.77 and Shin is at 8.60.

Ai Miyazato remains seventh at 7.52 with, in order, Brittany Lincicome (7.28), Paula Creamer (7.26) and Stacy Lewis (7.19) completing the Top 10.
