Couples coasts to win on Champions Tour

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Fred Couples shot a 6-under-par 66 Sunday that allowed him to coast to a seven-shot victory at the AT&T Championship in Texas.

Couples won for the second time this year and finished the tournament in style by chipping in for a birdie on the 18th hole at the TPC-San Antonio course. He set a tournament record for 54 holes with his 23-under total of 193.

Mark Calcavecchia also shot a 66 and finished alone in second at 13-under 200. Tom Lehman and John Cook shared third place at 202. Peter Senior was alone in fifth at 203.

Couples made 26 birdies during the three rounds of the tournament. He broke away from the field on Saturday by shooting a 62 in a round that included a double bogey.

His other victory this year came at the Seniors Players Championship. Couples will captain the American team next month that will take part in the Presidents Cup matches in Australia.
