Osaka tennis delayed a day by rain

OSAKA, Japan, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Rain forced postponement of quarterfinal matches at the Japan Women's Open in Osaka Friday.

The four matches were rescheduled for Saturday, with the semifinals to follow.

Top-seeded Samantha Stosur, the U.S. Open champion, goes against Chanelle Scheepers, second-seeded Marion Bartoli takes on Ayumi Morita, third-seeded Angelique Kerber plays Tamarine Tanasugarn and No. 4 Petra Cetkovska meets Zheng Jie in the quarters.

Tanasugarn is the defending champion.
