

LINZ, Austria, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Petra Kvitova cruised to an easy first-round win Tuesday at the Generali Ladies Linz tennis tournament in Austria.
Kvitova defeated Rebecca Marino 6-2, 6-2 in 55 minutes. Kvitova lost 13 points over eight service games and saved both break points Marino managed.
Kvitova was especially dominant in the second set, winning 16-of-18 points on serve and 68 percent of the points overall.
No seeded players lost first-round matches Tuesday but three were taken to third sets. The exception was third-seeded Jelena Jankovic, who built a 4-1 lead before Kateryna Bondarenko retired.
No 4-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova overcame 10 double faults in a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win over Anabel Medina Garrigues while sixth-seeded Julia Goerges just got by Anastasija Sevastova 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9-7). Also, seventh-seeded Dominika Cibulkova was up 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 when Elena Baltacha suffered a back injury and was forced to quit.
Lucky losers Evgeniya Rodina and Anne Keothavong advanced with Keothavong beating Ekaterina Makarova 6-4, 6-1 and Rodina moving to the second round when Magdalena Rybarikova retired due to illness.
Other first-round winners Tuesday were Ksenia Pervak, Lucie Safarova, Sorana Cirstea and Sara Errani.
