Super Bowl XLIX will be the third NFL title game in the Phoenix area. Super Bowl XXX, with Dallas beating Pittsburgh, was contested in Tempe's Sun Devil Stadium in 1992. Glendale's 5-year-old University of Phoenix Stadium was the site when the New York Giants won Super Bowl XLII over the New England Patriots in 2008.

Super Bowl XLVI is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2012, in Indianapolis with the 2013 game in New Orleans and the NFL championship game in 2014 to be decided in East Rutherford, N.J.
