NFL: New Orleans 30, Carolina 27

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Pierre Thomas hauled down a go-ahead touchdown pass with 50 seconds remaining Sunday, rallying the New Orleans Saints to a 30-27 win over Carolina.

Drew Brees rolled up 359 yards through the air, including a pair of TD tosses for the Saints (4-1), who held off Panthers rookie Cam Newton and posted their fourth straight win.

Jimmy Graham made eight grabs for 129 yards in the victory.

Newton, meanwhile, turned in another impressive performance, finishing the game 16-for-31 with 224 yards as Carolina (1-4) suffered its fourth consecutive setback of seven points or less.
