THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Brad Faxon was named the winner of the Insperity Championship Sunday after heavy rains forced an early end to the tournament.
Faxon collected his first Champions Tour win without ever teeing off for the final round as downpours at The Woodlands Country Club in Texas prompted first a suspension of play and then a cancellation.
His 7-under 65 Saturday, putting him at 10-under 134, was declared the winning performance, handing him a title in only his sixth start on the seniors circuit.
Several players teed off on Sunday, but many of the last 10 groups didn't hit a shot before the course was declared unplayable.
Finishing second was Tommy Armour III at 9-under 135, while Eduardo Romero took third at minus-8.
Tied for fourth one shot further back were Tom Lehman, Jay Haas and Olin Browne.
