FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Fredy Montero scored twice Saturday, powering the Seattle Sounders' 2-1 win over New England and snuffing the Revolution's post-season hopes.
After spotting the Revs a 1-0 lead on a goal by 16-year-old Diego Fagundez in the 35th minute, Montero tied it less than a minute later on his 10th tally of the season.
He then put playoff-bound Seattle (16-6-9) ahead in the 48th, taking a pass from Nate Jaqua and poking home a goal from 2 yards out.
The Sounders won for the fifth time in six games.
New England, meanwhile, fell to an Eastern Conference-worst 5-14-12.
