Vikings fullback Felton charged with DWI


BEIJING, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Jelena Jankovic was among the early departures in Saturday's opening round of the Beijing Open.
The 10th-seeded Jankovic, who won Beijing in 2008, went quietly in a 7-5, 6-4 loss to Tamira Paszek.
Five other seeded players were more fortunate and advanced to the second round.
Seventh-seeded Francesca Schiavone moved on with a straight-sets win over Bojana Jovanovski. Also moving on were No. 9 seed Andrea Petkovic and 15th-seeded Roberta Vinci.
Another past champion, 2006 and 2009 winner Svetlana Kuznetsova, won her first-round match when Alexandra Dulgheru retired with a knee injury.
