DETROIT, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Detroit Piston Ben Wallace is facing drunken driving and weapons charges after police arrested him in Bloomfield Township, Mich., authorities said.

Police said they found an unloaded pistol in a backpack in his car after he was pulled over for driving erratically around 3 a.m. Sept. 24, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Wallace, 37, has been arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving and a 5-year-felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Wallace was released to a family member after his arraignment on a $5,000 personal bond.

At the police station after his arrest, Wallace was given a breathalyzer test that showed a blood alcohol count above the .08 level considered intoxicated, The Detroit News reported.

Wallace has said he is considering retirement with only one season left on the two-year $3.8 million deal he signed with the Pistons last summer.
