Vikings fullback Felton charged with DWI
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Seeded players Jurgen Melzer and Dmitry Tursunov advanced to the quarterfinals of the Malaysian Open with straight-set wins Wednesday.
Melzer, the event's No. 4 seed, beat Rik de Voest 6-0, 6-4 in 64 minutes in his second-round match. Melzer had a very solid serve Wednesday, landing 76 percent of his first serves and dropping just 12 points over eight service games.
Tursunov, seeded seventh, topped David Goffin 6-3, 6-3. Goffin forced 10 break-point situations on Tursunov but the Russian saved them all while converting half of the six break chances he had.
Also in the second round, Marcos Baghdatis defeated Somdev Devvarman 7-5, 6-4. Baghdatis posted a pair of breaks in each set.
The first round wrapped up Wednesday with Flavio Cipolla cruising by Bernard Tomic 6-2, 6-2; and Denis Istomin taking out Marinko Matosevic 6-3, 6-2.
Baghdatis will face Melzer in the quarterfinals while Tursunov will go against the winner of a second-round match between Istomin and No. 2-seeded Viktor Troicki.
