ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo will miss the season's final three games with a stress fracture in his right foot, the team said Monday.

The fracture was revealed Monday after tests performed at the Kerlan-Jobe Medical Center in Los Angeles, the Angels said.

Trumbo was removed from both Saturday's win over the Oakland Athletics and Sunday's loss to the A's with what was called right ankle discomfort.

The team said the rookie will be re-evaluated in 4-to-6 weeks.

The Angels will miss the potential American League rookie of the year as they play AL West-leading Texas in a last-ditch attempt to claim the AL wild-card post-season spot.

Trumbo has hit .254 with 29 home runs, 31 doubles and 87 RBI in 149 games this season and is generally regarded as a leading contender for AL rookie of the year honors.
