NFL: San Diego 20, Kansas City 17

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Ryan Mathews scored twice and Eric Weddle's interception Sunday sealed the San Diego Chargers' 20-17 victory over Kansas City.

Mathews ran for 98 yards and Weddle picked off Matt Cassel on the Chiefs' final drive with less than 2 minutes remaining to wrap up the win for the Chargers (2-1).

Philip Rivers went 24-of-38 through the air for 266 yards, overcoming a pair of interceptions in San Diego's victory.

The Chiefs (0-3) got only 31 yards on 14 carries from Thomas Jones, who is seeking to replace injured Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles.

Cassel managed 176 yards and two touchdowns behind center for Kansas City.
