VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Fredy Montero's two second-half goals Saturday pushed the Seattle Sounders FC to a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Camilo had put Vancouver up 1-0 in the 22nd minute when he accepted a pass from Davide Chiumiento and knocked the ball past Kasey Keller for his ninth score of the season. Seattle's Brad Evans answered 11 minutes later, burying a penalty kick that came after a shot by Alvaro Fernandez was blocked in the box by the extended arms of Jay DeMerit.
Montero then came up with the decisive goal in the 63rd minute, taking control of a loose ball in the box, then cutting it behind his foot before sending a left-footed shot into the upper corner.
His insurance goal came 4 minutes later off a pass from Evans. His shot found the net despite being partially deflected by DeMerit.
