ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- David Murphy's two-run single highlighted a big fourth inning Saturday that carried the Texas Rangers to a 7-3 victory over Seattle.
The Rangers, one day after clinching the American League West title, banged out 14 hits and scored six runs in the fourth inning to put the contest away.
Esteban German (3-for-5) and Eric Chavez each drove in runs before Murphy (2-for-5, run scored) delivered his two-run hit.
The Rangers capped the frame with two more runs on a throwing error by Mariners reliever Jeff Gray and went on to clinch their three-game set with Seattle.
Scott Feldman (2-1) earned the victory after allowing three runs on five hits over four innings of relief.
Seattle's Felix Hernandez (14-14) was tagged for seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits in just 3 1/3 frames to absorb the loss.
