OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Jemile Weeks doubled and scored the tie-breaking run in the eighth inning Thursday, giving the Oakland Athletics a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers.
Weeks had three hits, including a sixth-inning home run that started Oakland on the way back from a 3-1 deficit.
David DeJesus walked in the seventh, reached third on a Cliff Pennington double and scored on a groundout to get the A's even at 3-3.
Texas reliever Mike Adams (4-4) got out the first batter he faced in the eighth, but Weeks followed with a double. Coco Crisp then delivered a single to right for the lead run.
That handed the win to Grant Balfour (5-2), who pitched the eighth, while Andrew Bailey finished the game for his 21st save.
Weeks singled and scored in the first inning but the Rangers took the lead in the second when Adrian Beltre doubled in one run and scored on a sacrifice fly.
Texas had made it 3-1 in the sixth with David Murphy's two-out single.
