MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Rene Tosoni drove in Trevor Plouffe with a two-out, ninth-inning double Thursday, snapping Minnesota's 11-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Seattle.
Plouffe was walked on five pitches by Steve Delabar (1-1) and Tosoni followed on the next pitch with a drive to right center that one-hopped the wall. Plouffe scored well ahead of the relay home.
It was the first Minnesota win since the Twins beat the Chicago White Sox Sept. 7. The 11-game losing streak since then was the third longest in franchise history.
Joe Nathan (2-1), who pitched the ninth, picked up the win. He allowed a single to Dustin Ackley, who also stole second. Ackley went to third on a ground out but Nathan stranded him by getting a fly out to end the inning.
The Twins trailed 2-0 after 1 1/2 innings but got a run on a double play in the third and tied the score in the fifth with a Drew Butera single that scored Tosoni, who ended up with three hits.
Seattle scored in the first on a Justin Smoak RBI single and in the second on Ichiro Suzuki's sacrifice fly.
