The right-hander bounced back from two poor starts in which he allowed 10 earned runs over 11 2/3 innings for the National League Central-leading Brewers, who reduced their magic number for clinching the division to three.

Rickie Weeks drove in a pair of runs and Nyjer Morgan went 2-for-4 with an RBI single for the Brewers, who won for only the second time in six games at Wrigley Field.

Chicago's Randy Wells (7-5) was roughed up for five runs on six hits over five innings to take the loss.

Starlin Castro knocked a solo homer for the Cubs' only run.
