Eagles QB Young: Man is impersonating me

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A man is soliciting cash from unsuspecting victims while impersonating Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Vince Young, the player said Monday.

"Watch out for this guy because he's not me and he's out there perpetrating as me," Young told WUSA-TV, Washington. "I heard he's been taking money -- taking pictures of little kids at hospitals. It's been real sick."

Antoinette Latham, executive director of The Vince Young Foundation. told The Philadelphia Inquirer a Washington man, Stephan Pittman, is making the rounds of Philadelphia and Washington-area clubs telling young women he is the quarterback and asking for charitable contributions.

"I've received at least a dozen phone calls and e-mails from people who have met him and he's asked them to donate to the foundation," Latham said. "Back in June we contacted NFL security and the police."

A search of the U.S. Department of Justice's Sex Offender Database indicated Pittman was placed on probation for the sexual assault of a 23-year-old girl in Texas in 2009, WTOP-FM, Washington, reported.

WUSA said it received a call from a man claiming to be Pittman, who denied he has ever impersonated Young. But the caller refused to meet in person or be recorded, the broadcaster said.

Cowboys QB Romo has collapsed lung

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been diagnosed with a collapsed lung, along with a previously disclosed fractured rib, the team said Monday.

Romo played part of the Cowboys' 27-24 overtime win at San Francisco Sunday with the broken rib.

Cowboys team spokesman Rich Dalrymple said Monday the signal-caller has also been diagnosed with pneumothorax -- a collapsed lung.

"Additional testing on the fractured rib of Tony Romo today revealed that he also has evidence of a pneumothorax -- a condition that is not unusual for an injury such as the one Romo sustained in the game in San Francisco," Dalrymple said. "Varying degrees of a pneumothorax can heal in differing time frames."

The team said it would monitor Romo's progress throughout the week but didn't indicate his status for a Sept. 26 game against Washington.

Romo came back from Sunday's first-quarter injury to rally the Cowboys to an overtime victory, going 20-of-33 passing for 345 yards and two touchdowns.

Texas, Oklahoma regents OK Big 12 move

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Regents at the universities of Texas and Oklahoma Monday gave approval for their schools' presidents to move them out of the Big 12 Conference.

Texas President Bill Powers and Oklahoma President David Boren both said staying in the Big 12 wasn't out of the question but they would explore the options of joining another conference, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported.

The two schools, along with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, are mulling a move to the Pac-12 Conference, which would leave the Big 12 with only five teams -- Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor -- the newspaper said.

The regents of Texas A&M University gave such approval to that school's president before it applied for and was accepted for membership in the Southeastern Conference, pending legal approval.

Citing a source it didn't name, the Star said that if Texas and Oklahoma bolt to the Pac-12, the remaining Big 12 programs could merge with what's left of the Big East Conference after the departures of Syracuse and Pittsburgh for the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Falcons' Robinson fined $40K for hit

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson Monday was slapped with a $40,000 fine for an illegal hit, NFL officials announced.

The play came during Atlanta's 35-31 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.

League officials said Robinson's blow to the helmet of Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin violated rules governing contact against a player deemed to be in a vulnerable position.

Robinson, 29, was also penalized last year for a hit on a defenseless Philadelphia player.

He was assessed a $25,000 fine for a violent open-field hit on Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson -- a play on which both players sustained concussions.
