CLEVELAND, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Mike Carp blasted a grand slam and an RBI double during a big third inning that carried Seattle to a rain-shortened 12-6 win over Cleveland Monday.
Trailing 3-2 in the third, Luis Rodriguez reached base on an error and Carp followed with score-tying two-bagger.
Eight batters later, he came up again with the bases loaded and homered to cap the nine-run outburst.
Trayvon Robinson stroked a two-run single, while Ichiro Suzuki and Kyle Seager also added RBI though a steady rain in the big frame.
Alex Liddi smacked a two-run homer in the Mariners' victory, which was called after the seventh inning.
Charlie Furbush (4-9) collected his first win in more than a month despite allowing six runs on 10 hits in five innings. He struck out a career-high eight batters and walked one.
David Huff (2-6) absorbed the loss for the Indians, getting roughed up for nine runs (five earned) on seven hits over 2 2/3 innings.
