NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson Monday was slapped with a $40,000 fine for an illegal hit, NFL officials announced.

The play came during Atlanta's 35-31 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.

League officials said Robinson's blow to the helmet of Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin violated rules governing contact against a player deemed to be in a vulnerable position.

Robinson, 29, was also penalized last year for a hit on a defenseless Philadelphia player.

He was assessed a $25,000 fine for a violent open-field hit on Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson -- a play on which both players sustained concussions.
