CINCINNATI, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Carlos Gomez and Prince Fielder ignited Milwaukee with two-run homers in the first inning Sunday and the Brewers went on to pound Cincinnati 8-1.
Corey Hart chipped in with a solo homer among his three hits, Ryan Braun went 3-for-4 and Rickie Weeks contributed two hits and two RBI as National League Central-leading Milwaukee won for the fifth time in six games.
Zack Greinke (15-6) was working on a no-hitter until the fifth inning and settled for allowing just two hits over seven frames, surrendering a single run while walking three and striking out 10.
Scheduled Reds starter Dontrelle Willis was scratched because of back spasms and Matt Maloney (0-3) took the loss in an emergency start.
He was bombed for seven runs (six earned) on nine hits through 1 2/3 innings.
