SAN DIEGO, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Orlando Hudson put San Diego in front with a fourth-inning homer Saturday and the Padres blanked Arizona over the final eight frames for a 3-1 victory.
Hudson snapped a 1-1 tie with a drive to right off Josh Collmenter (9-10). Jeremy Hermida also hit a homer off Collmenter in the seventh.
San Diego has won the first two games of the series after losing three in a row in San Francisco.
Starter Wade LeBlanc (4-5) allowed a first-inning home run to Aaron Hill and then shut down the Diamondbacks for the next five innings to get the win. He gave up four hits and struck out four.
Heath Bell allowed a two-out single to Paul Goldschmidt in the ninth and Chris Young then reached on a walk.
Pinch-hitter Lyle Overbay came up as the potential winning run, but Bell struck out Overbay looking to pick up his 39th save.
The division-leading Diamondbacks lost their third in a row.
