PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Kyle Kendrick and four Philadelphia relievers held Florida to one run Thursday en route to a 3-1 Phillies win in the first game of a doubleheader.

The doubleheader was put on the schedule to make up for games the Marlins and Phillies missed Aug. 27-28 due to Hurricane Irene.

Kendrick (8-6) hadn't pitched since before the hurricane, having been idle since Aug. 24, but he allowed just two hits and didn't walk a batter while striking out six in five innings.

One of the hits he allowed was a fifth-inning home run by Logan Morrison, who has hit 20 this season.

Reliever Michael Stutes pitched two innings, Antonio Bastardo one-third of an inning, Brad Lidge two-thirds and Ryan Madson, who earned his 31st save, the ninth for the Phillies.

Florida starter Anibal Sanchez (8-8) was coming off a one-hitter Saturday but gave up three hits, including RBI doubles by Hunter Pence and Raul Ibanez, in the first inning.

Philadelphia's final run came in the seventh when Placido Polanco walked with the bases loaded.
