MILWAUKEE, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Carlos Gonzalez drove in three runs Wednesday, two of them with a third-inning, go-ahead homer that helped send Colorado to a 6-2 win over Milwaukee.
The Brewers saw their lead over second-place St. Louis in the National League Central trimmed to 5 1/2 games. The Cardinals edged Pittsburgh 3-2 earlier in the day.
Mark Ellis singled in a run in the third to tie it at 1-1 and scored in front of the 26th homer of the year by Gonzalez. Gonzalez also had a sacrifice fly during Colorado's two-run fifth.
Kevin Millwood, hoping to earn a spot on the Colorado roster next season, improved to 3-2 in seven starts with the Rockies. He gave up two runs on four hits in six innings.
Colorado is the sixth team for which Millwood has pitched in a 15-year career.
Shaun Marcum (13-7) allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings to take the loss.
