HOUSTON, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- The Houston Texans Tuesday signed popular backup wide receiver David Anderson to a contract after waiving him earlier in the year.
Anderson, a seventh-round draft choice from Colorado State, played for the Texans for five seasons, becoming a fan favorite during that time, the Houston Chronicle reported.
He was released by Houston following the NFL lockout, signed with Denver and then was cut by the Broncos at the end of training camp.
A collarbone injury to starter Kevin Walter and a subsequent move up the depth chart for Jacoby Jones, however, created an opening for a fourth receiver and special teams player.
Anderson's most productive season for Houston was 2009, when he caught 38 passes for 370 yards.
The 28-year-old made 11 catches for 117 yards last season.
