Martial arts fighter in sex assault plea

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- A mixed martial arts fighter featured in a television series has pleaded guilty in Las Vegas court to a charge of attempted sexual assault.

Michael Whitehead, who appeared as "Iron Mike" in Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter" series, entered the plea Monday in connection with an alleged sexual assault on two women at his Las Vegas home in April, 2010, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

Under the plea agreement Whitehead will be required to register as a sex offender and be subject to a lifetime of court supervision.

Whitehead had been arrested on charges of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault and open and gross lewdness.

He had also faced possible drug charges in connection with marijuana found growing in his home.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2012.
