
HOUSTON, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- J.A. Happ threw six efficient innings and Clint Barmes smacked a three-run homer Tuesday, elevating the the Houston Astros to a 5-2 win over Philadelphia.
Happ (6-15) won for the second time in three starts, limiting the Phillies to one run on four hits over six frames while overcoming four walks and striking out four along the way.
After Jason Bourgeois gave the Astros a 2-1 lead with a fourth-inning RBI single, Barmes followed by blasting the first pitch he saw from Cole Hamels (14-8) into the left-field stands.
Houston notched its second straight win over the National League East-leading Phillies, who dropped a third consecutive game.
Hamels went five innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on nine hits while falling to 0-3 in his last five starts against the Astros.
Hunter Pence and Carlos Ruiz socked solo homers for the Phillies.
