LANDOVER, Md., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Rex Grossman threw for two touchdowns and Ryan Kerrigan scored on an interception return Sunday, staking Washington to a 28-14 win over the New York Giants.
Grossman racked up 305 yards as the Redskins (1-0) rebounded from deficits of 7-0 and 14-7 in the first half.
Tim Hightower bulled into the end zone on a 1-yard run and Grossman found Anthony Armstrong on a 6-yard scoring strike to produce a 14-14 tie at halftime.
The Redskins' signal caller also hooked up with Jabar Gaffney late in the game after the rookie linebacker Kerrigan tipped an Eli Manning pass to himself and ran it in for a go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter.
The injury-riddled Giants (0-1) got a 6-yard touchdown run from Ahmad Bradshaw's with 2:48 remaining in the first half, but didn't score again after that.
