Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Madison Bumgarner held the Dodgers to one run over five innings Sunday and the San Francisco Giants bounced the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-1.
Bumgarner (11-12) yielded three hits while fanning eight and walking three for the Giants, who avoided a sweep in the final contest of a three-game series at AT&T Park.
Jeff Keppinger delivered a two-run double and Pablo Sandoval chipped in with three doubles for San Francisco, which snapped a three-game skid.
The Dodgers, meanwhile, saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
Hiroki Kuroda (11-16) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.
