SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Eugenio Velez scored on a fielder's choice grounder in the ninth Friday to rally the Los Angeles Dodgers past San Francisco 2-1.

San Francisco's Tim Lincecum blanked the Dodgers through seven innings, but gave up the tying run in the eighth and Los Angeles scored the game-winner in the ninth off Santiago Casilla (2-2).

The Giants lost their second in a row and fell 8 1/2 games behind first-place Arizona in the National League West. The Diamondbacks rallied to a 3-2 win over San Diego earlier in the evening.

With two away in the eighth inning and San Francisco just four outs from a victory, Matt Kemp reached on an infield single, stole second and scored the tying run on Juan Rivera's single.

Casilla replaced Lincecum to start the ninth and gave up a leadoff single to Rod Barajas. Velez came on as a pinch-runner and Justin Sellers sacrificed him to second before he advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Jamey Carroll then hit a ground ball to second and the throw home in a bid to get Velez was late.

The comeback made a winner out of Clayton Kershaw (18-5), who allowed an unearned run on three hits in eight innings. Javy Guerra was perfect in the ninth for his 17th save.

Kershaw lowered his ERA for the season to 2.36, tying him with Johnny Cueto of Cincinnati for the major league lead.
