DENVER, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Homer Bailey allowed a lone run over 7 1/3 innings Friday and equaled his largest single-season win total in the Cincinnati Reds' 4-1 victory over Colorado.

Bailey (8-7) won a game for the first time since Aug. 13, after having gone 0-2 in four starts since then. His eight victories matched his 2009 total, when he went 8-5 for the Reds.

The run off Bailey came on Chris Nelson's third-inning homer and the Rockies still had a 1-0 lead heading into the sixth, when Cincinnati struck for all of its runs.

Brandon Phillips walked to open the sixth against Jhoulys Chacin (11-11) and was erased on a fielder's choice grounder from Dave Sappelt. Joey Votto then singled Sappelt to third and headed to second on the play when right fielder Seth Smith misplayed the ball.

Nelson fielded the relay throw from Smith at shortstop and his throw back to second, in a bid to get Votto, missed its target, allowing Sappelt to score the first run of the inning.

Jay Bruce and Drew Stubbs then walked to load the bases, Ryan Hanigan singled in two runs and Paul Janish brought home another with a base hit.

Francisco Cordero retired the side in the ninth for his 32nd save.
