ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Desmond Jennings blasted a game-winning homer in the bottom of the 10th inning Wednesday, handing the Tampa Bay Rays a 5-4 victory over Texas.
The Rangers got solo homers from Mike Napoli in the eighth inning and Ian Kinsler in the ninth (his second of the game) to forge a 4-4 tie and send the contest into extra frames.
But Jennings salvaged a victory for the Rays when he led off the 10th with a long clout into the left field stands off Mark Lowe (2-3), clinching the three-game series for Tampa Bay.
Jake McGee (2-1) was credited with the win thanks to a scoreless top of the 10th. Rays starter David Price went six innings, yielding a pair of runs on eight hits.
Napoli finished 4-for-5 for the American League West-leading Rangers, who came into the game with a 3 1/2-game lead over the second-place Los Angeles Angels.
