MLB: Seattle 2, Los Angeles Angels 1

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Felix Hernandez allowed one unearned run over eight innings Tuesday in the Seattle Mariners' 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Hernandez (14-11) held the Angels to four hits and struck out seven.

The Angels committed four errors in a loss that dropped them 3 1/2 games behind first-place Texas in the AL West.

Justin Smoak and Miguel Olivo both went 2-for-5 for the Mariners, who outhit Los Angeles 10-4 and ended a five-game losing streak.

Bobby Abreu's double was the only extra-base hit for the Angels.

Ervin Santana (11-10) held the Mariners to two unearned runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings, his shorted start since June 21 when he lasted five frames against the Florida Marlins.
