WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Michael Morse bashed two homers and the Washington Nationals launched four long balls in all Monday, pummeling the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2.
Morse's initial clout, a two-run blast, came during a first inning in which Ian Desmond and Jayson Werth also went deep. Werth's shot came in back-to-back fashion with Morse's.
Morse added a bases-empty blast in the sixth for Washington, which took the opener of a four-game series with the Dodgers.
John Lannan (9-11) went 5 1/3 innings to get the win, surrendering one run on five hits and a walk. He fanned four.
Hiroki Kuroda (11-15) gave up all four Nats homers, allowing five runs on eight hits in a six-inning start for the Dodgers.
Matt Kemp and Justin Sellers drove in runs for Los Angeles.
