MIAMI, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Javier Vazquez threw seven solid innings and the Florida Marlins banged out 15 hits Monday in their 9-3 triumph over the New York Mets.
Vazquez (9-11) yielded only one run on six hits and didn't issue a walk, fanning seven Mets batters in picking up his second straight win.

Emilio Bonifacio and Gaby Sanchez each went 3-for-5 with three RBI and Jose Lopez added three hits and a solo homer for the Marlins, who took the opener of a three-game series.
Mets starter Chris Capuano (10-12) was roughed up for six runs on eight hits in just innings.
Jason Bay bashed a two-run homer for New York.
