SANDY, Utah, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Kyle Beckerman and Chris Schuler each scored in the first half Saturday and Real Salt Lake hung on for a 2-1 decision over Philadelphia.

Beckerman put RSL up 1-0 in the 18th minute on a pretty goal in which he ripped a shot past Philadelphia goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon.

Schuler doubled the lead 8 minutes later, finding the net on a high-flying header off a corner kick for Salt Lake (12-7-6).

Sebastian Le Toux cut the deficit to 2-1 for the Union (8-7-10), but it wasn't enough as Philadelphia lost its second straight and remained winless in its last six.
