
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Juan Francisco singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning Sunday and the Cincinnati Reds held on for a 3-2 victory over St. Louis.
Yonder Alonso collected a two-out single off Cardinals closer Fernando Salas (5-6) and was replaced by pinch-runner Chris Valaika.
After Drew Stubbs walked, Francisco delivered the decisive base hit, chasing home Valaika for a Reds lead.
Francisco Cordero set down the Cards 1-2-3 in the ninth for his 30th save, while Bill Bray (5-2) earned the win after retiring pinch-hitter David Freese with a runner on third and two out in the ninth.
Edgar Renteria slammed a two-run homer for the Reds, who took the rubber match of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis starter Edwin Jackson yielded two runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out eight.
John Jay hit a solo homer for the Cards.
