MLB: St. Louis 6, Cincinnati 4

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- St. Louis left-hander Jamie Garcia gave up just one earned run in six innings and drove in the go-ahead run Saturday in the Cardinals' 6-4 win over Cincinnati.

Garcia (11-7) scattered seven hits, while issuing one walk and fanning six for the Cards, who evened their three-game series with the Reds.

Garcia broke a personal six-game winless streak partly due to his performance at the plate.

After spotting the Reds an early 2-0 lead, St. Louis put two runners on with one out in the second when Gerald Laird chased home Lance Berkman with an RBI single, and Skip Schumaker also scored on left fielder Chris Heisey's fielding error.

Garcia followed with an RBI single and the Cards never relinquished the advantage.

Cincinnati's Homer Bailey (7-7) absorbed the loss, yielding five runs (four earned) on six hits in just three innings.

Jay Bruce socked a two-run homer, and Edgar Renteria went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Reds.
