
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Kevin Millwood struck out eight over seven shutout innings Friday and teamed with two relievers in carrying the Colorado Rockies to a 3-0 win over San Diego.
Millwood made his fifth start for the Rockies, the sixth team he has played for in 15 seasons. He scattered seven hits before turning things over to Rex Brothers in the eighth.
Brothers allowed a hit and Rafael Betancourt struck out two in a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
The Rockies snapped a three-game losing streak and handed the Padres their eighth straight setback.
Jonathan Herrera singled in a run in the fourth and scored later in the inning on a ground out by Troy Tulowitzki.
Tulowitzki drove in the final run of the game with a single in the sixth.
Aaron Harang (12-5) gave up the three runs on five hits in a seven-inning effort. He struck out seven.
