GREEN BAY, Wis., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Green Bay went in front on an interception return by Vic So'oto in the third period Thursday and the Packers held on for a 20-19 win over Kansas City.
So'oto's picked off a pass by Tyler Palko and brought it back 33 yards to give Green Bay a 20-16 lead.
Ryan Succop kicked a 31-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter for the Chiefs, but Kansas City suffered another interception on its next possession and Succop missed a 53-yard field goal try as time expired.
Aaron Rodgers, who led the Packers to the Super Bowl title last year, hit Tom Crabtree with an 8-yard touchdown pass in his only series of work. Green Bay went 3-1 in the pre-season and the Chiefs lost all four games.
Green Bay hosts New Orleans Sept. 8 to open the NFL's regular season. Kansas City will be at home against Buffalo in its season opener.
