
BALTIMORE, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Brent Lawrie's two-run homer in the eighth inning helped the Toronto Blue Jays edge the Baltimore Orioles Thursday, 8-6.
Lawrie also went 3-for-5 in the rubber match of a three-game series. Kelly Johnson hit a solo home run and Yunel Escobar went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored for the Blue Jays.
Luiz Perez started for Toronto, giving up five runs on six hits over five-plus innings, striking out six and walking three. But the win went to reliever Shawn Camp.
For the O's, Vladimir Guerrero was 3-for-4 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored. Matt Wieters hit a solo homer and drove in two runs.
Starter Tommy Hunter allowed six runs, five earned, on nine hits over six innings, but reliever Willie Eyre gave up Lawrie's homer for the loss.
Baltimore has now dropped four of the last five.
