BALTIMORE, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Kelly Johnson's three-run homer in the third touched off a barrage of long balls Wednesday that carried the Toronto Blue Jays past Baltimore 13-0.
The Blue Jays produced 20 hits while handing the Orioles their 80th loss of the season. Toronto's onslaught allowed Henderson Alvarez to easily collect the first win of his career.
Johnson's smash highlighted a six-run inning that put Toronto in command and Jose Molina had a solo shot later in the frame.
Edwin Encarnacion added a two-run homer during a four-run fourth and Jose Bautista finished the scoring with his own two-run shot in the sixth.
Bautista -- who began the evening tied with Curtain Granderson of the New York Yankees for the major-league home run lead -- has 39 home runs for the season. He hit 54 homers a year ago.
Alvarez (1-2) started for just the fifth time in the majors and allowed only three hits while striking out five in eight innings. He did not walk a batter.
Jo-Jo Reyes (7-11) was roughed up for seven runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings.
