NEW YORK, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Lucas Duda singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh Wednesday, finishing off a New York rally that gave the Mets a 3-2 win over Florida.
New York pitching blanked the Marlins over the final eight innings after Jose Lopez had given Florida the early lead with a two-run single.
Duda scored New York's first run in the fourth on a single by Nick Evans and the Mets tied it in the sixth on an RBI base hit by Jason Bay.
Jose Reyes opened the New York seventh with a single off losing pitcher Chris Volstad (5-12) and reached second on a sacrifice by Ruben Tejada. After Mike Dunn relieved Volstad, Duda singled to center at the end of an eight-pitch at-bat to drive in Reyes with the winning run.
Manny Acosta (2-1), the third of five New York pitchers, claimed the victory by working the seventh inning. He put two runners on with two away, but got Lopez to end the inning on a liner to second.
Bobby Parnell allowed a leadoff single in the ninth, but retired the next three batters for his third save.
