Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Scott Feldman pitched six scoreless innings in his first start of the season Tuesday to lead the Texas Rangers to a 2-0 victory over Tampa Bay.
Feldman (1-0) allowed two hits and struck out four in a spot start designed to give the Rangers staff a breather before the stretch run of the American League West race.
Neftali Perez closed the books on the three-hit gem with his 28th save, even though the Rays put two men on base with no outs in the ninth.
David Murphy had three hits and one RBI for the Rangers, who have won two of their last four games. Josh Hamilton went 2-for-4 and drove in the other run.
Jeremy Hellickson (11-10) took the loss for the Rays. He allowed two runs on six hits over six innings.
